When we look at things in the distance,
the colours don't appear as bright and clear as they
do when objects are close to us.
Artists have used this concept, to give depth and
perspective to their paintings. When objects, such
as hills are away in the distance, they are painted
with very light, quiet colours.
In the mid ground, colours are more distinct, but
still quite light, and the strongest colours are always
found in the foreground.
