Anne of Cleves

I am Anne of Cleves from Germany. My parents and important men in my country wanted me to marry the King of England so I had a very nice portrait painted of me (it made me look really nice) and this was sent to Henry, and he sent for me almost right away. So, in 1540, I left my home to go to England and marry him. I needed to take a translator with me because I didn't speak any English. As I said, my portrait made me look very nice, but I don't think Henry like me much at all when I got there, but he married me anyway. Only a few months later, everyone decided that England and my country didn't need me to keep them friendly and Henry divorced me. We didn't have any children.
