the story.
Jesus spent all day
preaching and talking to the people.
There must have been about 5000 people
altogether on the hillside, outside
the villages. They had all listened
to every word he spoke but now the sun
was setting and people realised how
hungry they had become.
|
To everyone's surprise,
the 5 loaves and 2 fish could be shared
amongst all the 5000 people. But not
only that, there were enough leftovers
to fill 12 baskets.
|
| One small boy gave Jesus his lunch. It
was not much, just 5 small loaves and 2
fishes. Nobody else had anything to give.
The crowd sat down expectantly, as Jesus
blessed the food and thanked God for giving
it. Then he gave it to his friends to pass
round the crowd. |
|
Jesus friends suggested
that they should send the people away
to get their own food, but Jesus didn't
want to. He wanted to feed them all where
they were. Looking around, the friends
had nothing themselves that they could
hand out, so they asked some of the crowd
it they had any food.
