There was a wedding at
Cana in Galilee. Jesus' mother was there,
helping. Jesus and his friends were invited
as guests. But the wine ran out before
the wedding feast was over.
|
|
| Mary told Jesus about the problem with
the wine and he asked her to gather the
servants together to help him. Looking around
the room he saw six large water-jars that
people used for washing before the meal,
but were now empty. |
|
| The servants were told to go and fill
the water-jars with fresh water from the
well. Serving water up at a wedding would
be an embarrassment to their master, so
the servants didn't want to. However Jesus
persuaded them. |

The servants now filled everybody's wine
glass with water from the newly filled
water-jars. When the first man tried his
fresh drink, he remarked to his host that
most people would serve their best wine
first, but that he had saved his for last.

|
The water had changed
into a very fine wine!
