The Science Man

This area of science looks at some of the properties of everyday materials. What this means is that we look at how hard or soft something is, how well it bends, how strong it is, does it break, can it conduct electricity, do magnets attract it? We compare materials that look similar to find if they have the same properties as each other. We also wonder where these materials would be best used: for example would we want to use wood to make windows? Or use metal to make car tyres? We identify what solids, liquids and gases are, and if the properties change when they are mixed, or when they are heated.
We also investigate how to separate things that we have mixed, even if they have been dissolved.
