1. Locate the River Meon on the OS Map.
Use four figure grid references for the source and the mouth.
Extension : Use six figure grid references.
Where do we live in relation to the River Meon? Describe in terms
of direction and distance?
2. Use different kinds of maps of the River Meon.
What do these maps show? Why are different features emphasised?
3. Looking at the river's course. Use the text "The River
Meon the river's course." Compare the text with the information
given by the NRA map.

4. Linked English Activity Make a river dictionary.

to help you to define the special vocabulary we use to talk and
write about rivers.
